Legal Panel - created from a Call for Expressions of Interest

Sage Advocacy employs an in-house solicitor / legal adviser and its work is supported by a network of legal specialists.  We do not, however, provide legal advice to clients.

Sage Representatives (staff and volunteers) are from time to time asked by clients, or their families, to assist in identifying a solicitor.  Given the relative frequency of such requests and in the context of the Assisted Decision-Making Capacity Act 2015 (ADMCA) which will see a review of Wards of Court, Sage Advocacy is currently developing a legal panel following a Call for Expressions of Interest from practising solicitors who wished to be considered for inclusion on this panel.  This is for the benefit of Sage Advocacy clients who currently do not have a solicitor of their own.

Solicitors who have responded to the first Call for Expressions of Interest have an interest in, a commitment to, and experience of some or all of the following areas:

• Human rights, human rights violations, including degrading treatment within the definition of the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (UNCAT)
• Patient complaints, patient safety and medical negligence
• Consent, capacity to consent to medical treatment and make legal decisions
• Wardship (including the review of all current wards which must be undertaken within three years of the commencement of ADMCA)
• Enduring powers of attorney
• Deprivation of liberty in places of care
• Provisions of the ADMCA
• Safeguarding of vulnerable adults
• Succession and probate law

This panel will be updated on a regular basis.  Interested firms or solicitors who wish to be considered for inclusion on the panel should submit their Expressions of Interest outlining relevant interests, experience and expertise, addressing the areas listed above to info@sageadvocacy.ie.  Detailed CVs of individual solicitors, rather than corporate brochures, are encouraged. 

Below is the current list of solicitors on our Legal Panel.  Sage Advocacy will not recommend a specific solicitor from the panel.
