Sarah Lennon, Executive Director of Sage Advocacy, joined  Jerry O'Sullivan on Kerry Today to discuss the Ombudsman's report on younger people living in nursing homes and also why the current support and care system has a heavy reliance on residential nursing homes.

Separately Ms Lennon discussed the proposed reforms of the Fair Deal scheme and highlighted that as people across Ireland grow older the demand for long term care is set to go in only one direction.

Ms Lennon said it is important that people of every age are given a choice about where they want to be supported and cared for and that we now urgently need to start talking about what the long term support and care system could be in Ireland  in the future.
