Sarah Lennon, Executive Director of Sage Advocacy, discusses the rollout of the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 and what this means to nursing home residents and their families on Northern Sound Radio.

Ms Lennon said the vaccine represents a light at the end of a very dark tunnel for nursing home residents and their families who have endured long periods of physical separation because of Covid-19.

Ms Lennon said that nursing home residents and their families would welcome further clarification around the vaccination process and how it may impact on daily life for residents, particularly in relation to restoring regular indoor visits.

She said it is essential that informed consent to the vaccine is given by residents and that they have access to the information, time and support they need to make an informed choice. Residents who lack decision-making capacity must also have support.
