SAGE ADVOCACY TALKS TO CLARE FM ABOUT THE ROLLOUT OF THE COVID-19 VACCINE IN NURSING HOMES ACROSS THE COUNTRY January 8, 2021

As the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine programme got underway in nursing homes across Ireland, Sarah Lennon, Executive Director of Sage Advocacy joined Gavin Grace on Clare FM's Morning Focus to discuss what the vaccine will mean to nursing home residents and their families.

Ms Lennon told Morning Focus that Sage Advocacy has received a significant number of calls from its Nursing Home Residents - Family Forum asking for the rollout of the vaccine to be accelerated.

Sage Advocacy's Executive Director also highlighted some of the administrative issues involved in the vaccine rollout including how important it is that informed consent to the vaccine is given by residents and that they have access to the information, time and support they need to make an informed choice.

Residents who lack decision-making capacity must also be supported in relation to the Covid-19 vaccine programme.
