Sarah Lennon, Executive Director of Sage Advocacy, discusses the rollout of the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine in nursing homes on RTE's DriveTime show and highlights why nursing home residents and families would be concerned about any possible delays to the vaccine programme.

Ms Lennon said that nursing home residents and their families would welcome further clarification around the vaccination process and how that will impact everyday life for residents, including visitation.

Ms Lennon said the issue of consent is important and it is essential that informed consent to the vaccine is given by residents and that they have access to the information, time and support they need to make an informed choice. Residents who lack the decision-making capacity must also have support.
