SAGE ADVOCACY DISCUSSES NEW VISITING GUIDELINES FOR NURSING HOMES ON RTE'S DRIVETIME November 30, 2020

Sarah Lennon, Executive Director of Sage Advocacy, discusses what the latest guidance on nursing home visits from the HSE Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) will mean for nursing home residents and their loved ones on RTE's DriveTime show.

Ms Lennon highlighted that, according to the HPSC, from 07.12.2020 nursing home operators should facilitate one visit, by one person per week, under Levels 3 and 4 of the framework.

But Ms Lennon said further clarification may be required in relation to the guidelines because in the past many residents left their nursing homes to spend a period of time celebrating Christmas and the New Year with their families in their own homes.

Ms Lennon said there is no guidance yet as to whether this will be facilitated this year in Level 3.
