SAGE ADVOCACY HIGHLIGHTS CONCERNS ABOUT NURSING HOMES AND CHRISTMAS VISITING ARRANGEMENTS ON THE JOE FINNEGAN SHOW November 19, 2020

Sarah Lennon, Executive Director of Sage Advocacy and Irene Winters, a member of Sage Advocacy’s Nursing Home Residents - Family Forum – joined the Joe Finnegan Show on Northern Sound to talk about what the current Level 5 restrictions mean for nursing home residents and their families. 

Sarah Lennon said Sage Advocacy has urged the Government to carefully consider the impact that any plans they are drawing up for Christmas could have on nursing home residents and their loved ones.

Irene Winters told Joe about her 90 year old father Paddy, who is a resident in a nursing home in County Dublin and how she feels “that nursing home residents have, above anyone else in the population, suffered more this year because of the Covid-19 restrictions that limit visiting family and friends”.

“We lost Mam this year, it’s Dad’s first Christmas without her in 64 years of marriage and if we can’t visit, I will feel I have failed him,” Irene told the Joe Finnegan Show.
