St James' Hospital hosted a wide variety of events to celebrate World Mental Health Day this week. In the Creative Life space Diana Burgui, Senior Medical Social Worker in the Memory Clinic and Dementia Services (DSIDC), St James' talked about stigma and mental health, Dr Nick Kidd, Senior Psychologist in our service presented about mindfulness, Catriona Kiernan CNS in Mental Health spoke about addiction, and Professor Brian Lawlor addressed social isolation and loneliness in the community. The presentations were interspersed with musical pauses and interludes, by Una Keane, Leonard’s Corner, and Andrew Robinson and friends.
Sage Advocacy joined the Alzheimer's Society, ALONE, Making Connections and many others in providing information and chatting to people about issues that their clients face.
The Martha Whiteway Day Hospital (MISA) in St James' was open to all, and had new art work produced by their service users on display, There they held a reminiscence workshop , called Sparking Positive Memories, in association with Karen Meenan, from Making Hay Theatre.
