Sage Support & Advocacy Service is delivering a workshop on the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 which may be of interest to you, a family member or a professional supporting people with disabilities.
The ADM (Capacity) Act 2015, which passed into law in December 2015, is the statutory duty to use a human rights based approach to support decision making. This legislation has implications for all citizens including people with disabilities and vulnerable adults, along with a broad range of professionals, frontline service providers, voluntary and community organisations and businesses
The event on the ADM (Capacity) Act 2015 will take place on Monday 11th September 2017 in Kilkenny Education Centre, Callan Road, Wetland, Kilkenny from 11.00am until 1.00pm.
This workshop will be of particular interest for family members who support a person with a disability and for staff working within disability services. The aim of the workshop is to ensure family members and professionals understand the new legislation and feel confident in explaining and supporting a person regarding their right to making decisions. The event will be facilitated by Mary Condell; Solicitor, Mediator and Legal Advisor and Emer Meighan, Development Worker, South East Project with Sage Support & Advocacy Service.
Places are limited for this event, to register please email michelle.rooney@sageadvocacy.ie or contact 01 536 7332 by Thursday 7th September.
